President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday declared that Katsina State played a key role in his becoming president, and that had it not been for the state, he would not have become Nigeria’s number one man.

Speaking when he paid courtesy visit to the emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, as part of his two-day working visit to the state, Jonathan said he remained eternally grateful to the state.

“I am the president of Nigeria because of Katsina State. Without Katsina, I would have been in Bayelsa as governor,” he said.
