Sports Keshi rules out Bright Dike from World Cup squad

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has ruled out Bright Dike from recovering early enough to make Nigeria's squad to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Dike last week had a surgery to repair his Achilles tendon he tore in training, which would sideline him for a long time.

“It was a very sad news,” Keshi said.

“He is a great kid and it’s sad he sustained the injury which will keep him out of the World Cup proper not just the Mexico friendly.”

However,Keshi ruled out inviting another player to replace Dike for next month's friendly game against Mexico.

“I would have loved to, but the time is too short,” Keshi added.

Since making his debut for Nigeria, the Toronto FC striker has netted two goals for the Super Eagles in three appearances, most recently in the game against Italy.
