Metro Lagos Boat Mishap Drowns Several People

An uncertain number of people were feared drowned, yesterday, after a commercial boat carrying passengers from Sagbokoji Village capsized around Apapa,Lagos.

According to Vanguard, prior to the accident the boat was carrying 19 passengers. Midway into the journey, the boat allegedly developed a fault which could not be fixed by the boat operator. A few passengers who could swim reportedly dived into the river before the boat capsized.

A other few passengers were rescued by fisherman. Eyewitnesses claim that about nine persons were rescued and conveyed to their destinations.

Vanguard News puts the number of drowned people at eight(8) .

However, the Lagos State Police Command through its Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Damasus Ozoani, said only two persons were suspected to have drowned in the boat mishap, while seven persons were rescued.
 
If it's not overloading, it's gonna be engine problem. When are we going to be perfect like the Japanese?
