According to statement signed by Mrs Efem Nkanga, Senior Assistant on Media to the Minister of Communications Technology, the Federal Ministry of Communications Technology, Lagos State Government and the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) have signed an agreement focused on the removal of constraints in installation, roll-out and deployment of base stations in Lagos State.

The statement said the agreement was signed after a closed-door meeting between Mrs Omobola Johnson, the Minister of Communications Technology, Lagos State Gov Babatunde Fashola and some officials of ALTON which addressed issues of taxes, levies, decommissioned sites and Right of Way fees militating against quality of service in the state.

It said that ATCON members who attended the meeting, expressed concern that these issues were making it difficult for operators to roll out the much needed ICT infrastructure in Lagos State.

Responding to their complaints, Fashola said good infrastructure roll-out and deployment was in the best interest of residents of the state.

He, however, stated that though the state needed ICT infrastructure, it would not be at the expense of the roads in the state or the lives of the people.
