The finals of this year’s Federations Cup will be staged on September 15 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
Both the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) and the Local Organising Committee from Lagos, settled for the date after a meeting in Abuja to finalise on preparations for the finals.
It will be the first time that both the Men and Women’s finals will be held on the same day.
“We discussed several matters and came to unanimous agreement on most of the issues. You know that both the NFF and Lagos State have been pre-occupied with the objective of bringing back the glamour of the Federation Cup,” NFF’s Director of Competitions,Mohammed Sanusi said.
“We are all working towards the same noble goal of making the Federation Cup bigger and better, and the meeting of the Main Organising Committee of the grand finale will harmonise all areas and ensure that we have magnificent organisation this year.”
The semi final matches of both events will be played on August 21. Former Champions,Enyimba will play against Lobi Stars in Benin while Warri Wolves will square up against Akwa United in Bauchi.
In the women’s category, Rivers Angels will face Pelican Stars in Abuja while Nasarawa Amazons takes on Bayelsa Queens in Ado Ekiti.
