The Lagos Water Corporation has said it will soon reconnect some of its waterworks to the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company and diesel-powered generators to combat water scarcity in the state.

This plan was revealed by the corporation’s Group Managing Director, Mr. Muminu Badmus, while speaking with journalists recently.

Noting that water supply had been restored to some parts of the metropolis, Badmus said that the government had collaborated with investors to establish water kiosks across the state.

According to him, the acute water shortage being experienced in parts of the state is occasioned by epileptic power supply and the vandalism of gas pipelines in the Niger Delta.

The LWC boss, who added that water pumps of its waterworks required high voltage, appealed to residents to be patient, saying the corporation would soon reconnect some of its waterworks to the IKEDC and diesel-powered generators.

He added, “The LWC has also completed arrangement with investors to implement commercial water distribution kiosks projects as a pilot scheme to install, manage and generate revenue from the venture using pre-paid meters.’’
