The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives have seized tons of meat and detained three people for purportedly running illegal abattoirs in Ajegunle, Ajelogo and Alapere, Ketu areas of the state.

A statement by the ministry said that the meat is harmful and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Cooperatives, Dr. Funsho Nuraini said that the cows butchered have tuberculosis and which is hazardous to the health of consumers.

He added that many illegal slaughter houses still dominate the state despite efforts to get rid of them because the butchers hide from government officials.
