Delivering a speech during the celebration of his 70th birthday, Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state called on old politicians to start working towards transferring power to the younger generation.
Jang said he has started the process of replacing old politicians with younger ones in Plateau politics.
"We have set machinery in motion to weed the old brigades from contesting in future polls as a way of minimizing corruption in the system.
He accused old politicians in Plateau of refusing to mentor the young ones to succeed them.
"The reason we have a lot of rot in the system is that the old politicians have deliberately refused to groom the young generation of politicians.We are ready to mentor the young politicians so as to take over from us.
"We are not against the old politicians, but we want those patriotic young people to take over the mantle of leadership from us", Jang added.
