Liverpool Football Club are believed to be interested in signing Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o before the transfer deadline.

It is understood that Brendan Rodgers is seriously considering adding the 33-year old in his attack line for next season, having already signed Rickie Lambert from Southampton.

Eto'o is a free agent after being released last season by Chelsea and has since been linked with many clubs in a bid to secure a dead.

Although Liverpool have not made an offer to Eto'o,however they have been linked as his next possible destination.

Eto'o earned £7m during his one-year deal at Stamford Bridge, accepting pay-cut of about £13m from his contract with Anzhi Makhachkala, it is left to be seen if Liverpool will be willing to match his wage demands to sign him.

Rodgers has said that he's determined to add a striker to his squad before 1 September having sold Luis Suárez to Barcelona for £75m and seen a proposed £8m move for Loïc Rémy of Queens Park Rangers collapse on medical grounds.

Liverpool have been linked with Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, whom they inquired about, but it appears the Monaco striker will only leave for Real Madrid.
