At least 64 people are in hospital as hundreds of firefighters tackle huge blaze at Grenfell Tower in Latimer Road, near Notting Hill, in West London

Here are main developments from the blaze that engulfed apartment block:

• London's Metropolitan Police have confirmed six fatalities following the fire

• Blog purportedly run by local residents expressed safety concerns in past
  
  
• Witnesses saw people jump from the tower
  
  
• Blaze largely contained by 5 a.m. local time, smoke still pouring into the sky
  
  
• Fire chiefs say "too early to speculate" the cause of the blaze

NHS England has said that 74 patients are currently being treated in London hospitals and 20 are in critical care.

The six hospitals which have received patients are the Royal Free, Kings College, St Mary’s, Chelsea and Westminster, Guys and St Thomas’ and Charing Cross.
