The police in Benue State have impounded a car they found to be ladened with arms and explosives last Friday around the Ankpa Quarters junction in Makurdi. The vehicle, a Volkwagen had five men in it who had run into some policemen at a stop and search exercise.
Upon seeing the policemen, the occupants of the vehicle took off, leaving the car and its content behind. The policemen chased them after this suspicious act, apprending one of the suspects in the process.
eyewitness reports said that the car had been filled with arms and explosive, with a device that looked like a rocket launcher found under the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The suspect arrested allegedly confessed to be a member of Boko Haram.
