The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, on Friday said the defection of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu from PDP to APC amounted to political miscalculation.

He noted that Adamu had benefited from the PDP both as a serving senator and a former Governor of Nasarawa State.

A statement issued by the Minister’s Press Secretary, Mr Joseph Mutah in Abuja said the minister bared his mind when he received a delegation from Agwada, the senator’s hometown, on a courtesy visit.

It said the minister thanked the people of Agwada for choosing to remain in the PDP and prayed God to touch the heart of Adamu to retrace his steps to the PDP.

It said that the minister urged people of the state to remain focused and dedicated to the PDP, noting that it would bring more development to the state.

``Nasarawa state remains the stronghold of the PDP. The people should close ranks with a view to reclaiming the state from the opposition in the forthcoming election’’, the statement quoted Maku as saying.

It called on the people to join in the campaign to promote peaceful coexistence in the state and other parts of the country.

It decried the recurrence of violence and wanton destruction of lives and property since the PDP left office in Nasarawa, urging leaders in the state to create the atmosphere for peace to reign.

The statement also quoted the leader of the delegation, Mr Samuel Osu, as stating the people of Agwada had resolved to remain in the PDP because the party provided the platform for their son to govern the state in the past.

The statement said Osu further appealed to the Federal Government to intervene and secure lives and property in the area and other parts of the state.
