It was reported by the Federal Government that a total of 57.7 million insecticide treated bed nets have been distributed between 2009 and 2013 in efforts to combat the spread of Malaria in Nigeria. This statement was made by Mr. Ene Eyo, the Head, Demand Creation Work-Stream, National Malaria Control Programme in Sokoto State.

He also mentioned that an additional 2.5 million nets are to be distributed to no less than 23 local government areas in Sokoto State under the replacement campaign to take place from the 17th to the 21st of December, 2013.

He also added that the help of the media is also a crucial point for the success of the campaign to end Malaria as though there are many health problems associated with the illness, the media does very little to report and spread awareness about Malaria.
