Metro Man Docked For Forgery

The Enugu State Police Command on Wednesday brought Mr Obinna Kenechukwu, 43,before the Enugu Magistrates’ Court for alleged forgery of an affidavit.

The accused was arraigned for allegedly forging an affidavit stating that he was duly issued with an allocation paper in respect of a stall belonging to one Victor Duru.

He is facing a two-count charge of forgery and illegal claim of ownership of someone’s property situated at the Ogbete Main Market.

The police prosecutor, Mr Emmanuel Ajogu, told the court that the matter was reported to the Central Police Station, Enugu on Sept. 9.

The prosecutor said the accused sold the shop to Emeka Ogbodo at Ogbete main market through false affidavit and that the accused claimed to be the owner of the shop.

Magistrate Virginia Uzoma granted the accused bail in the sum N100,000 and one surety in like sum and she said the surety must be a civil servant not less than a Grade Level 10 officer.

she also adjourned the case to Jan. 7, Jan. 9 and Jan. 14, 2014 for accelerated hearing.
