Manchester United unconvincing in 2-0 victory over Palace

Manchester United did just enough to secure an uninspiring 2-0 victory over ten-man Crystal Palace.
It was the first home win for David Moyes as manager of Manchester United,in a game his predecessor,Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance.
On paper,it was a game United were expected to win convincingly, especially with Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney in the starting line up.
Palace however did not look like a team whose manager,Ian Holloway was in the stands. The newly promoted side contained United, forcing the home side to create openings for a goal.
One of United’s best moves was a linkage between Rooney and Van Persie, with the English player swinging in a cross from in-field but the resulting volley from the Dutch player struck the bar and went over.
A contentious moment came before the end of the first half, after Ashley Young was through on goal and fell down in the box with just a minimal contact.
The referee looked to have harshly sent off Kagisho Dikgacoi and awarded a penalty, with Van Persie clearly dispatching the kick to put United 1-0 up.
Despite Palace being 10 men in the second half,United still could not score from open play, but the introduction of two Belgians,Fellaini and Januzaj helped United’s movements.
Rooney doubled the tally for United in the 81st minute, bending in a free-kick to seal a 2-0 victory.
