Mr Mbu Joseph Mbu, the new Commissioner of Police in the FCT, at his maiden news conference in Abuja on Monday says that he is not in the territory for politics but to police it.

“Today (Monday), I have assumed duties as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT.

“I am not here for politics; this is Federal Capital Territory, a no-man’s land.

“We are here to do policing and that is all,’’ Mbu said.

The new commissioner promised to build confidence in officers and men of the command to enable them to carry out their duties without fear or favour.

According to him, whoever takes the laws into his or her hands in the territory will be brought to book.

He, however, warned the personnel against indiscipline, advising them to be civil and respect the people.

Mbu said that the command would soon install complaint boxes in public places in the territory, including Churches and Mosques, to enable the public to volunteer information and to report misconduct by policemen.

The commissioner advised journalists to always verify stories before publication and vowed to bar those who report hearsay from covering activities at the command.
