World Mother of All Earthquakes Hit Iraq-Iran: 450 Dead, Over 7,000 Injured

A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.3 has hit an Iran-Iraq border, killing 450 and leaving thousands injured. It is adjudged the deadliest earthquake recorded in 2017.

The quake, recorded at 9:18 p.m. on Sunday, was felt as far away as Turkey and Pakistan. The epicenter was near Ezgeleh, Iran, about 135 miles northeast of Baghdad.

At least 445 people were killed and 7,370 people were injured in Iran, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, which gave an estimate significantly higher than the death toll of 407 that officials had announced earlier.
