Most of the major Network operators in Nigeria have seen the huge market potential for internet services and have unveiled a number of data packages in other to lure undecided data subscribers to their fold. Some of the major network operators offering data services in Nigeria include MTN, Airtel, Glo and Etisalat, but selecting the best data plan can be very difficult. We are going to examine the major network operators, with a view to determining which of them offers the best data plans.
MTN Nigeria Data Plans
MTN Nigeria has the largest mobile phone subscriber base in Nigeria as well as Africa. This South African owned telecoms operator has vast spread across the African continent and they offer browsing plans that are active at different times of the day. They are the newest of the big-four network operators in Nigeria, but that doesn't make them minnows in the Nigeria telecommunication industry. They have one of the best data plans in Nigeria and are currently giving the major players a run for their money with their innovative data plans. They offer normal GPRS/EDGE services popularly known as Easy net as well as 3G services also known as Easy Blaze.

They have flexible mobile internet and data plans that appeals to various classes in our society. Airtel Nigeria has the basic GPRS/EDGE internet access as well as the 3G high-speed internet access, which is one of the most stable in the country. The major drawback with Airtel Nigeria is their data burn rate, which is one of the highest in Nigeria. E.g. you can purchase a 10GB data plan and your data account might show that you have 10MB, but in reality, you would be getting 5MB worth of data. Which means you may not be able to download files above 5MB.

From the information stated above, the major mobile network operators have amazing data plans but some are more customer responsive than others. At the moment, MTN Nigeria currently has the best and cheapest data plans in the country. Glo Nigeria is good but highly unstable, which may not be good for business oriented individuals. Airtel Nigeria is fairly stable, but their data burn rate is on the high side. Etisalat Nigeria is fast and stable, but their data plans are more expensive than the other network operators. With competition on the rise, prices are expected to crash, which is the expectation of the average internet user in Nigeria.
