Abba Risqua Murtala Mohammed, the first son of the late Head of State, Gen. Murtala Ramat Mohammed, on Sunday in Kano stepped aside from politics, saying the decision is to enable him to concentrate on his business.

Risqua, who was a running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the 2015 election in Kano, Sagir Salihu Takai, said his decision would, however, not stop him from rendering service to Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.

Addressing his supporters at Kano Foundation House, Abba Riqua said his intention to take a break from politics was not informed by pressure or frustration, insisting that it was based on his personal conviction to build his business.

“I am taking a break from politics, to enable me concentrate on developing my business.

“Most of the resources I used the last time I came to Kano were from my private pocket; and when I went back to my business, it was on the verge of crumbling.

“So, I thought it was time for me to concentrate on my business and take a break from politics. Once things improve, I will determine how best to proceed further,” he said.
