NAFDAC arrests 11 over importatation of Fake Products

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said it recently made some arrests of eleven persons who imported fake drugs into the country.

Amongst the fake drugs and related products are fake Tramadol capsules, postinor2 tablets, illegal packaging materials for Royal Stallion rice, bioclaire lightening body cream at NAHCO, etc.

Those arrested include, Mr Ndubuisi of Oke-Arin Market, Lagos,Mr Anthony Chukwuma Ohayagha in Sabon Gari, Kano, Mr Okeke for illegally importing large consignment of packaging materials for Vaseline products. Mr Adeola Awuse, a clearing agent, Chidinnma from Onitsha, Mr Aaron Igwe, Chimezie was arrested for importing two large packages of aluminium caps for wine at NAHCO and Oke.

NAFDAC Director-General, Dr Paul Orhii said in Lagos that these fake drugs imported has serious health implications leading to the death of consumers. Also, he urged Nigerians to assist the agency with important information that will help to track such criminals.
