A Nigerian man, Mohammed DeeDee has asked former President, Goodluck Jonathan for forgiven over his statement over when Naira fell to 180 per dollar at the official market in 2014.

In 2016, under President Muhammadu Buhari, the naira has fallen to 305 per dollar at the paralle market and almost 500 at the black market rate.

The currency is around 615 to a pound compared to 280 about two years during Goodluck Jonathan-led Peoples Democratic party government.

In a swift response from Ben Murray Bruce, senator representing Bayelsa community and Jonathan's close ally said the former president has forgiven Mohammed when he discussed him with on phone.

Nigerian naira on Monday crumbled to 500 per dollar before bouncing back to 498 at the parallel market sending significant shock to businesses as analysts predicted a sharp depreciation on the currency.

The currency had continued to fall since the beginning of the year as experts see the currency hitting over 520 to the dollar this year.

It is also trading 615 and 525 to the pound and euro respectively at the back market segment.

At the highly pegged official market, the currency remain unchanged at 305 to a dollar.
