Politics Names of Nigeria's Senators Who Have Been "Bench Warmers" for the Past Year

A report released by a non-governmental organisation, Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), 51% of Nigeria's current crop of senators have been bench warmers for the past year.

The report focused on Bill Charts in the upper legislative chamber, says 53 out of the 103 members of the 8th senate spent the past year without sponsoring a bill of their own.

Drawn from PDP and APC, the list of legislators yet to sponsor any bill includes ranking and new senators.

According London's The Economist magazine, Nigerian legislators are better paid than their British, American or any other counterparts as a factor of GDP per capita.

Nigerian Senators get N607,920 for utilities as against N397,042; newspaper/periodicals, N303,960; house maintenance allowance for senators is N101,320; and a wardrobe allowance of N506,600.
