Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the verge of winning Ghana’s presidential election.
He is likely to defeat incumbent President John Mahama, private Joy FM and Citi FM radio stations said on Friday.
Results released by the media in Ghana showed that the opposition candidate is in early lead.
Claims of his victory has however been widely faulted by his opponents.
Mr. Addo’s party had triumphed over Mr. Mahama’s National Democratic Congress, NDC in parliamentary polls that took place in Ghana on December 7, 2016.
President Mahama’s re election bid has been hit by widespread voter resentment with an economy that is in bad shape.
