Dr Chris Eluemunoh, a delegate to the National Conference on Tuesday called on the National Assembly to support the outcome of the conference by legislating on its resolutions.

Eluemunoh, who is the Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Anambra, told the newsmen in Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area that there was a need to legislate on the deliberations of the conference.

"If the national conference fails, Nigeria will experience serious issues. We do not wish to break up as a nation and that is why the national dialogue was constituted. The constitution of this national dialogue was timely; the president acted in his inner wisdom in spite of strong opposition. It is a commendable step in sustaining the unity of the country.

"This conference will decide the fate of Nigeria in the next five years,’’ he said.

Eluemunoh said the conference was loaded with personalities capable of detecting, handling, discussing and proffering solutions to the country’s problems.

He said the National Assembly had to do a referendum on the outcome of the conference to make a law that will be binding on all the citizens.

Eluemunoh said that the Igbo had taken a stand to work for the unity of the country.

He said that issues affecting the country ranging from poor infrastructure to security matters, among others, had been scheduled for discussion among the 20 committees of the conference. He called for public support for the conference and prayers for the right results at the end of the day.
