President Goodluck Jonathan after receiving reports of Sen. Femi Okunrounmu’s led National Dialogue Advisory Committee at the Presidential Villa, announced on Wednesday that the proposed national dialogue to be convened by the Federal Government would take off in early 2014.

The committee, set up to advise government on a framework for the dialogue, submitted three reports with 18 volumes and over 4,000 pages to the president.

“I have already directed the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance to make adequate financial provisions so that this conference will take off immediately we enter next year.

“For the chairman the secretary and members of the committee, you have already presented a document that the volumes are quite frightening.

“For us to move fast, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) will call on some of you from time to time to help us quickly understand this and set up the team that will carry out the assignment.

“We request that whenever we beckon on you for assistance you will still oblige us to do that.

The president assured that government would partner with all stakeholders to convene the dialogue.

He also assured that the process of the dialogue would be transparent and devoid of interference from any quarter.

“As I said during the inauguration of this committee, this administration stands for a stronger and more united Nigeria and shall do everything within its powers to practically pursue this noble goal.

“The outcome will add value to the process of building a stronger, united, more democratic and stable Nigeria.

``This discussion process is for the benefit of the entire nation. Every Nigerian, as individual or as a group, has an important role to play to ensure its success,’’ he said.

The president thanked the chairman and other members of the committee for their commitment, resilience and dedication to national service.
