On Monday,the Federal Government threatened to withdraw the mining licences of operators who fail to cooperate with the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in generating data for the 2011 solid minerals sector audit.
Mr. Musa Sada,The Minister of Mines and Steel Development during a workshop organised by NEITI for the 2011 solid minerals sector audit in Abuja warned operators in the sector to diengage from such act or face the penalty which will include withdrawl of licences
Th workshop was to teach operators on how to fill in template forms that captured information necessary for audit.He added that the 2007-2010 audit report enabled the Ministry to strenghten its system by closing up gaps and improving revenue collection. It also led to the establishment of the Solid Minerals Development Fund.
