Super Eagles B midfielder, Bartholomew Ibenegbu, has said that Nigeria's victory over Niger in their Group C opener at the ongoing African Nations Championship, in Rwanda will boost their confidence ahead of their next game against Tunisia on Friday.

The Sunday Oliseh’s men beat the Menas 4-1 on Monday evening after enduring a goalless first half and jumped to the top of the table with three points.

“The victory means so much to us because in every tournament, it is always crucial to win the first game. We are glad to get the maximum points though the game was tough,”

“Coach [Sunday] Oliseh was also happy with us because we played according to his instructions and also got the maximum points.

“After a scoreless first half, he made some corrections and told us to go for everything in the second half and that really helped us.”

And although morale is high in the team, Ibenegbu is confident his side will not become complacent against the Carthage Eagles.

“We will start tactical preparation for Tunisia game because we cannot afford to slip,” he continued.

“A win for us will see us through to the next round of the competition which will ease some pressure from us.

“For now, we will take each game as they come and try to achieve our ultimate target which is the title,” he concluded.

Tunisia were forced to a 2-2 draw by Guinea, and Henryk Kasperczak’s side will be hoping to cage the Eagles at Stade Régional Nyamirambo to relaunch their bid for a second CHAN title. Goal
