The Calabar Monorail in Cross River state is ready for use, Mr Mba Mba an Engineer at one of its station has stated. According to him the light rail project was completed in December last year.

The light rail project has three stations, Tinapa, Tinapa Lakeside Hotel and the Calabar International Conference Centre.

The monorail will allow access to Studio Tinapa, Tinapa Shopping Centre and Tinapa water park as well as provide a quick alternative access to Summit Hills.

The train runs at 40 kilometres per hour and has 12 cars, including 10 passengers and two equipment cars. Each car is primed for seven to eight passengers all seated.

When fully operational, the electricity-powered air-conditioned train will provide a 24-hour service.

Governor Ben Ayade during a second of the train said it is ready for inauguration by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He added that the monorail would boost the economy and expand employment opportunities in the state.
