Nigeria fails to make a move in latest FIFA rankings

Nigeria’s position remains unchanged in the latest monthly FIFA rankings released for the month of July.
Nigeria maintained it’s position last month,and are still ranked 35th in the world and fifth in Africa,after pooling together 700 points.
Despite qualifying for the African Nations Championship(CHAN) Nigeria couldn’t shoot up from their present position,both in Africa and the world.
There was relatively slight movements in the overall rankings,as even the top ten in the world remained unchanged.
There weren’t much top-graded international matches last month,which explains why there wasn’t much changes in the rankings,rather there were lesser friendlies.
With the exception of USA who won the CONCACAF Gold Cup last month,there were other minimal moves.
USA moved up three places into 19th in the world,which made them the biggest movers this month,accumulating 960 points.
The other top ten positions was unchanged with Spain,Germany and Colombia,the top three ranked nations.
Nigeria will be hoping for a bigger leap,when they take on South Africa in a friendly game next week and also the forthcoming 2014 World Cup qualifier against Malawi.
