Nigeria's hopes of hosting the African Nations Championship(CHAN) was dealt a huge blow,after the Confederation of African Football(CAF) on Monday named Kenya as the host nation for the 2018 edition of the competition.
President of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Aminu Maigari revealed that they would have loved to stage the tournament if they could get the support of the government.
"Hosting CHAN 2018 would not be a bad idea," Maigari said.
Rwanda will host the 2016 CHAN competition,with Kenya following suit two years later.
Nigeria made its first appearance at the CHAN tournament this year in South Africa,clinching the bronze medal.
