The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Dr. Paul Orhii, in a paper presented to mark this year’s World Breastfeeding Day in Makurdi said that at least 194, 000 children below the age of five die annually in Nigeria from diarrhoea

He said the deaths can be avoided if mothers breastfeed their babies exclusively for the first six months and continue till the baby is two years old.

This was gotten from the figures released recently by the United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF which also urged mothers to breastfeed their babies properly.
