Nigeria is expected to resume supply of Gas to Ghana after the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, suspended their five-day-old strike.

The strike had triggered a cut in supply of gas through the West African Gas Pipeline to Ghana.

It left the country in an energy crisis with power producers forced to shed a record 500 megawatts of electricity.

All gas powered thermal plants across the country were shut down, worsening the ongoing load shedding programme, Myjoyonline says.

But with the suspension of the strike in Nigeria, it is expected that authorities there will resume supplying Gas to Ghana.
