Passage of the Petroleum Industrial Bill and ammendment of the 1999 constitution are the key issue for discussion today as the Nigerian senate resumes plenary following a 3 week break, according to the Tribune.

However, passage of the PIB could face another lengthy delay, and could have to wait until after the february elections, as senators were already engaged in campaigns across the country.

“The earliest time we can even look at the document will be after the presidential and National Assembly polls,” a lawmaker said.

The lawmakers are also expected to begin deliberations on the Medium Term Economic Framework (MTEF) and the 2015-2017 Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) as well as a N4.357 trillion 2015 budget sent by President Goodluck Jonathan to the lawmakers.
