Business Nigeria Targets 12,500mw of Electricity by 2017

The Federal Government of Nigeria has resolved to generate 12,500 megawatts, MW of electricity by 2017 in order to meet rising demand in the nation, according to National Mirror.

The Minister of Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, who disclosed this at a town hall meeting organised by the ministry, assured that the capacity and gas supply are in place to successfully achieve the feat.

“We have an outlook for 2015 to 2017. People are saying, ‘but you people said you will do 600MW’, yes we the capacity standing, we now have the gas standing, and we are going to do that shortly by the grace of God within this year,” he stated.

He stated that in 2016, the Federal Government expects to get up to 10,000MW and by 2017 to 12, 500MW.
