Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr invited 23 players for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South African on June 10 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

But the Super Eagles will not be with the services of some key players. Below are 6 of them:

1. Mikel Obi: Coach Rohr on Thursday, in a press briefing ahead of the match admitted that the quality wealth of experience of skipper Mikel will be greatly missed in the qualifier clash. Mikel is out due to injury.

2. Victor Moses: The in-form Chelsea right back will not play against South Africa as he also missed the Corsica and Togo friendlies.

3. Carl Ikeme: The goalkeeper missed the latter matches for his team, Wolverhampton wanderers, and now will miss the South African tie. Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Alampasu has been called up as his replacement.

4. Leon Balogun: The fierce player who has cemented his spot in Rohr’s defence will also miss the clash.

5. Odion Ighalo: The striker has returned to training for his Changchun Yatai but he was not invited by Rohr for the France tour qualifier against South Africa. There is huge doubt on his Super Eagles career as Rohr stated that he didn’t invite players from China because the league players are difficult to track.

6. Brown Ideye: Like Ighalo, the wealth of experience of Ideye will be greatly felt in the South African match. It is uncertain if Ideye is injured or left out due to Rohr’s policy on players in Chinese league.
