Metro Nigerian Airforce Storms Sambisa Forest, Launches Massive Attack on Terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has started another round of air attacks on targets in the Sambisa forest in Borno state to flush out remnants of Boko Haram insurgents.

The interdiction mission codenamed ‘OPERATION FOREST STORM’ is a new phase of offensive air operations is aimed at further degrading the capabilities of the terrorists.

The operation in the Sambisa general area is designed to restrict the freedom of action of the insurgents as well as neutralise any threat posed to movement of troops with their rescue operations.

The operation, which commenced on 2 Oct. 2016, is expected to last few days.

According to Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, Director of Public Relations and Information, during this period, the Air Force will be conducting series of air interdictions to take out a number of carefully selected targets in the Sambisa Forest.
