The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has revealed that the Nigerian Army will completely invade Sambisa forest this week in a bid to intensify its fight against the Boko Haram insurgent.
Buratai made this known during the maiden bi-annual public lecture series of the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina, titled: ‘Security Challenges in Nigeria: Case of Northern States’.
Buratai said: “What we see lately is rumblings of a dying group (Boko Haram).
“There has also been a rapid escalation of armed conflicts between herdsmen and rural communities and an unbelievable expansion of cattle rustling and invasion of ungoverned territories by armed criminal gangs as is the case in the North West and part of North Central”.
