A Nigerian man pleaded guilty to charges of illegal entry and falsified documents in Guyana. He said he did these because he had to seek opportunities for success.

David Duka, the convicted man, arrived Guyana on July 2 by sea and disembarked without permission from an immigration officer.

On August 15, while applying for a passport, he signed a document saying his name was John Clarke. He was assisted by a 'Joseph' who claimed to be able to procure a legal passport for David.

The immigration officers who were present at the attempt of David to procure a passport became suspicious and reported the matter. David was later arrested for the above offence.

David has been fined $30,000 or 8 months imprisonment for illegal entry and $20,000 or 3 months imprisonment for falsifying documents.
