The federal government has agreed to publish the names of people it recovered funds belonging to the government from.

Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said this after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

This is after a court of law compelled the government to reveal the identity of the looters following a Freedom of Information suit filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP)

Malami said government agrees with the court’s ruling and will adhere to it, as long as it did not amount to violation of court rules.

The court in its ruling had ordered the government “to widely disseminate including on a dedicated website information about the names of high ranking public officials from whom public funds were recovered since May 2015."

The Information Ministry last year had said government successfully retrieved total cash amount N78,325,354,631.82, $185,119,584.61, £3,508,355.46 and €11, 250 between May 29, 2015 and May 25, 2016.
