Politics Nigerian government rejects claims of prisoner deaths - ABC Australia

An Amnesty International report has found that nearly 1,000 people died in Nigerian jails this year as the state has attempted to crush an Islamic insurgency. Amnesty says many prisoners died from suffocation in overcrowded jails, others from starvation and extra-judicial killings and it is calling for an urgent investigation.
