Sports Nigerian Judo team could miss trip to France over lack of funds

The Nigerian Judo team is at the verge of missing out on the World Judo Tour championship taking place in France because of the unavailability of funds.

Vice President of the Nigerian Judo Federation Dr Oshodi Musa revealed that they have been in camp preparing for the Tour, but that they could miss out because they are still expecting funds.

“The point is that there is a national camp from where we invite people to polish their skills for one or two weeks before we participate in tournaments.

We are expecting funds from some quarters but if we don’t get them, I will say that no participation for now,” Musa told The Punch.

“We have many activities that we want to implement this year but like I always say, it is not the desire that matters, but the ability to uphold the desire which matters. These activities need adequate publicity which will enable the corporate world to come to our aid.”

The two-day event will take place from February 8-9,in Paris and Nigeria might not participate unless they get the needed funds from now till then.
