Senators of the federal republic of Nigeria have threatened to boycott sittings if the Independent Electoral National Commission, INEC, doesn't conduct National Assembly Elections in Rivers and Anambra states.

Rivers currently doesn't have any representative in the Red Chamber and the Anambra Central senatorial seat is also vacant.

The elections in the areas were previously conducted but were marred by violence INEC had to declare them inconclusive.

The senators gave INEC until December 10 to conduct the elections.

Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu introduced the motion during plenary on Wednesday.

After the motion was passed, Senate President Bukola Saraki said INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, was duty-bound to justify his words during his screening before the Senate.
