A Nigerian Soldier yesterday chose to kill a bus conductor instead of paying N100 for his wife's bus ride. The soldier dressed in mufti had allegedly escorted his wife to a park in Obalende to board a bus but refused to pay the required fare. In a bid to collect his money, the bus conductor, Bashiru Adebayo and the unnmaed soldiers wife got engaged in a heated argument.
Angered by the exchange between his wife and the conductor, the soldier grabbed the conductor and began to beat him. Despite pleas from other passengers, the Soldier beat the Conductor, until he gave up the ghost.
On noticing that the conductor had given up the ghost, other passengers then mobbed the policemen who eventually managed to escape and ran towards some uniformed men who were around the scene in a vehicle. They reportedly sped off, leaving the lifeless body at the park.
In Nigeria, military personnels believe that a free bus or cab ride is their constitutional right.
