A seven day ultimatum has been given to the Federal Government by the Nigerian youths to resolve the impasse between the federal government and the striking universities lecturers. The Federal Government’s failure to honour its agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities is seen as an insidious attempt to destroy the education system of Nigerian and taint the knowledge acquisition of present and future generations of young people.

A youth leader of the name Timi Frank stated that it was ironic that the wealth of the nation is being frittered away by frivolous and pervasive corruption while the education upon which brighter futures are made is being destroyed.

The government that spent N2.3trillion in the name of subsidy and introduced SURE-P as a way of absorbing the negative impact on the economy should be able to afford the N90billion for the university lecturers without stress.
