The Federal Government of Nigeria has disclosed that the fight against the Ebola Virus Disease is far from nearing at and as more Nigerians are likely to test positive to the disease in the wake of the fresh Rivers State outbreak.

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Proferros Onyebuchi Chukwu, speaking in Abuja yesterday during the 2nd Emergency National Council on Health meeting said we may not have heard the last of the deadly Ebola virus disease, as the people currently under surveillance may become symptomatic at any time.

“It is expected,” he said, “that a few more contacts will develop the EVD, especially in Rivers State before Nigeria will see its last case of EVD. While it is encouraging that so far, all confirmed cases of the EVD in Nigeria have their roots in the index case, Mr. Patrick Sawyer, great vigilance is required particularly in our ports of entry to ensure we do not have cases of EVD from other sources other than Mr. Sawyer.”
