Nigeria's inflation rose to 8.5% in August, an increase of 0.2% from the previous month, a statement from the National Bureau of Statistics revealed yesterday.

Nigeria's inflation rate has been rising for six consecutive months, the statement said.

Food inflation also climbed, to 10 percent in August from 9.9 percent in July, Reuters reported.
