Nigeria's vice president, Namadi Sambo was held hostage by political thugs reportedly loyal to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday.

Eyewitness report claims that dozens of armed thugs, posing as loyal PDP party men, thronged the area where the Vice President was, taking his security detail by surprise. The thugs then shouted different Hausa words such as ''Bamuayi Bamuayi Bamuayi'' which means ''we are no longer with you'' and ''mungaji da aiki banza'' which means ''we are fed up with payless job''.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the thugs held the vice president hostage for about 20 minutes before some party bigwigs and the police intervened and reached a truce. VP Sambo was then allowed to continue with his visit at the Bayero University, old Campus Kano.
