Nigeria - Another pipeline explosion occurred early Sunday along Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) network at Arepo, Ogun State.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Public Relations Officer, National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) South West, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

According to Farinloye, some vandals ruptured the PPMC/NNPC Pipelines network at Arepo around 5.20 a.m. and their unpatriotic act resulted in an explosion “with heavy billowing fireballs.

"Pipeline fire fighting experts from NNPC have been mobilised. Supplies have been stopped and valves locked up immediately.

He however said the explosion has been contained, “the fire has been stopped (contained) and there were no causalities”.

He urged communities and residents of the area to keep watch of the activities of people around the PPMC/NNPC Pipelines network.

“This is notorious area which needs high surveillance,” Farinloye said.
