Sports No regrets not signing Suarez - Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he has no regrets on not signing Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.

The Gunners made a bid for the Uruguayan in the summer but fell short of Liverpool's valuation of the player.

With both sides set to meet on Saturday at Anfield,Wenger maintains that Suarez was never their player.

"You sometimes have regrets when players who played for you score goals or do well somewhere else," said Wenger.

"But he was never our player, it is a situation that didn't come off and that is it."

Arsenal offer £40m and one pound to sign Suarez from Liverpool, but Wenger said that they don't have any immediate plans of going back for the player.

"At the moment no, no," Wenger said when asked if he would go back for him.

The game against Liverpool will herald the pack of big games lined up for Arsenal in February.

"In the Premiership now, every point is vital. But we enjoy that and we have fought very hard until now to be in that position. So let's just enjoy it and give it our best," said Wenger.

"I am convinced that, especially mentally, we are prepared and we have shown that throughout the season when we have had difficulties.

"Physically we are prepared but it depends how many injuries you have as you need to rotate."
