Politics North-East Zone: Atiku Please Don't Leave PDP

A delegate from the North-East section of the Peoples Democratic Party has urged former president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar not to leave the PDP at a visit to his Abuja residence in Asokoro yesterday.

Chairman of the zone, Senator Lawan Giriigiri said the visitation was to identify with Atiku as one of the founding leaders of the party, and to enlist his support towards repositioning the party for future challenges.

Atiku was said to have spoken when Girigiri told him jokingly in his opening remarks at the meeting that the North East zone was paying him a visit as they heard he had registered a new party.

Atiku, it was said, assured them of his continuing membership of the PDP and also told them to disregard media reports about his membership of the PDM.

He pledged to render necessary support to the zone and advised the zone to be firm and resolute in the pursuit of the party’s objectives at the zonal and national levels. He also advised the zone not to be intimidated and to be fair in all their activities.

The zone, which is also Atiku’s zone, needed to solve many of its problems, chief among which was finance
